One player who has been forced to retire do to injury is Eric Lindros. Lindros had numerous concussions and was forced to retire early. He was an elite player at the time, and just happened to have some bad luck. He was a player that teams looked to hit, so he could not beat them by himself. Eventually it led to a concussion, and after the first one they came in bunches. One player who helped end Lindros' career was Scott Steven from the New Jersey Devils. Here is a video Clip of how Lindros was injured by Stevens. | Another player who has had injury problems has been Jeremy Roenick. Luckily Jeremy Roenick's injuries have not been as severe as Lindros' injuries, and Roenick is still playing in the National Hockey League today. He has had his jaw broken numerous times, and it has had to been wired shut so it could heal properly. While Roenick is still playing he has had to alter his playing style a little bit to help protect his jaw from further injury. |
Lindros had his head down while cutting across the middle of the ice and Scott Stevens took advantage of a defensless Eric Lindros. |
Another Player who was injury prone in the NHL was Theo Fleury. He had numerous concussions just like Lindros, but he also had other problems. Theo Fleury had a drinking and drug problem as well. I believe that this could have possibly contributed to some of his injuries. It could have possibly been that his body was not always in the best of shape that it could have been in. Also, he may not have always been drug or alcohol free while playing. Even with problems and injury Theo Fleury was a great player at times, and had great speed that not many players could match. |
